Aggregate Industries have confirmed their intended date for the second demolition blast at Croft quarry, this time to demolish Screen House Number 3.

The Journal is, at last, coming out of lockdown. As a volunteer-staffed Community Newspaper, we are very aware that a lot of our Distributors who deliver the paper to every house on the Five Villages we cover are retired and are taking precautions. We moved the paper on to our website.

Further to yesterday's announcement, due to the adverse weather, the demolition will be postponed this week,
Once a new date has been identified we will provide an update via the Parish Council website and social media.

Aggregate Industries have advised us that the next demolition blast will be Thursday afternoon (27 Aug), weather permitting and all being well.

We have been informed that demolition work will be taking place TODAY (Wednesday 19th August) at Croft quarry to make way for additional work at the quarry and its continued operation.
Demolition work is going to be carried out between 2:30pm and 6:00pm. The site will have highly restricted access today.

Leicestershire County Council's Loughborough and Somerby recycling and household waste sites will re-open this weekend – meaning that all 14 in the county are now open to the public.
